Although it often appears that civil resistance struggles erupt spontaneously, when the oppressed simply can’t take it anymore, it is generally the case that several favorable conditions are in place that facilitate movement emergence.  These include widespread grievances, cross-class coalitions, trigger events, free spaces, and mobilizing organizations that sustain resistance.
